What Is Adsense?

So you wanna know what Adsense is huh?

I suppose you already know what Adsense is but you just want to know more about yeah? Well you have come to the right place.

AdSense is an ad serving application run by Google which allows website publishers to generate revenue from their sites by placing ads from the Google Adwords network on them. Every time Google Adsense ads are clicked on by one of your visitors you earn a share of the revenue that Google makes from charging that particular advertiser, you can also earn a revenue on a per impression basis.

I have written a summary of how the Adsense program works and the steps you will need to take to implement it.

1. You (the website owner) joins the Adsense program to become an Adsense Publisher.

Once accepted you will now have your own Adsense account and you will be able to create Adsense ads and place them on to your own website and earn revenue.

2. Create your custom Adsense javascript code:

You do this by logging into your Adsense account and from here you will be able to choose the particular ad format and ad color that you want to place on your website. The code your selections will generate will appear like this:

<script
type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "your publisher id will be here";
google_ad_width = width of chosen ad format;
google_ad_height = height of chosen ad format;
google_ad_format = "chosen ad format";
google_ad_type = "whether text only or text and image ad";
google_ad_channel ="the channel you have placed this ad in";
google_color_border = "chosen border color";
google_color_bg = "chosen background color";
google_color_link = "chosen link color";
google_color_url = "chosen url color";
google_color_text = "chosen text color";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"

</script>

3. You can place this code anywhere on your website:

It is best to make sure you create an ad which matches the colour scheme of your website, this gives you more chance of people clicking on your Adsense ads as they think it is part of your content if you try and blend it in correctly.

4. Google technology will match everything up for you:

The ads you place on your page will be relevant to your pages content. For example, if your page is about camping you will 99% of the time automatically see Google Adsense ads that are based on camping appearing on that particular page on your site. If you place Adsense ads on other pages with different content again Google will automatically read this content and try their best to match the ads with the content on that page.

It may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour but Google will start delivering ads that match your content. This is the real perk of Adsense - ads that match the content of your page so that they are relevant to what your visitors are reading and thinking about at the time and so more likely to be clicked on.

There you go, a brief run down on what Adsense is. Stick around and browse the rest of the site as we have lots of tips and tricks on how to make the most of Adsense and show you how easy it is to earn money from Adsense. It really is an automatic Adsense cash machine!
