The first thing you want to do is find a niche. (A niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing; therefore the market niche defines the specific product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics that is intended to impact.) Typically, keyword research consists of looking for keywords that have high search volume, low competition and decent commercial intent.

When your objective is merely to sell the click rather than an actual product, the commercial intent of a keyword is largely irrelevant – instead you should focus on the average cost per click.

Here’s why – Google acts as a broker between the advertiser and the publisher. You, as the publisher, get paid 60% of what the advertiser is willing to spend per click.

In other words if you have contextual advertising on a blog that contains content about lucrative topics such as FOREX trading or weight loss then you’ll get paid more than if you blog about why the sky is blue.

2. Make Sure your CTR is at Least 10%

The CTR (Click Through Rate) is the percentage of visitors to your site that go on to click on one of your ads. If you’re getting a CTR that’s lower than 10%, then something somewhere along the line is not quite right.

Well I can ask you what is the best way to find information on the web? You use a search engine of course. These search engines should bring you the information you need. BUT! What if you click on the links and the website has nothing to do with your search term EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKED LIKE IT DID when you clicked the link because it said so!? You obviously immediately close the page down and search again.

The above is an example of how not to use the top paying keywords for your site if they are not relevant to your site. It is all good getting the traffic to your site, but it is not good if that traffic closes your page after a few seconds. You want this traffic to stay on your site because the longer a person stays the more chance you have them clicking on your ads.

Search engine spiders now feed back information to tell the operators of the search engine whether the content is any good, whether it is relevant to the search term used, and they even no how long a user stays on the site. A very high bounce rate can result in the page rapidly falling down the search engine rankings. That is why it is important to either build your keywords around the content of your website or build a website based on your keyword research. The latter being the harder because if you are building a website based on high ranking keywords you need to:

In order to join the Google Adsense program you will need to have a fully functional site. It also must meet Google’s guidelines. So your application got rejected huh?

Sites do get rejected by Google but this is not necessarily the end of your experiment with Adsense. Do not think that because your site is not accepted you won’t be able to be a publisher of Google ever again. If you've read the polcies and are sure that your site doesn't breach any of the terms send Google an email asking them why you have not been accepted. They will respond and explain the reason or reasons.

Listen to what they say and make the relevant alterations to your website. Once you are happy that your site is now up to their requirements either reapply or respond to their email explaining that you have made the necessary changes to your site, and you would like to know what is your next step to reapplying for a Google Adsense account.

Alternativelly, if you have more than one website submit a new application using one of your other websites in the application form.

It is best to make sure you create an ad which matches the colour scheme of your website, this gives you more chance of people clicking on your Adsense ads as they think it is part of your content if you try and blend it in correctly.

The ads you place on your page will be relevant to your pages content. For example, if your page is about camping you will 99% of the time automatically see Google Adsense ads that are based on camping appearing on that particular page on your site. If you place Adsense ads on other pages with different content again Google will automatically read this content and try their best to match the ads with the content on that page.

It may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour but Google will start delivering ads that match your content. This is the real perk of Adsense - ads that match the content of your page so that they are relevant to what your visitors are reading and thinking about at the time and so more likely to be clicked on.
